Minoxidil is FDA approved for the treatment of male pattern baldness (Androgenetic Alopecia). Azelaic Acid: Has been proven to be a strong inhibitor of the enzyme 5-AR( 5-Alpha Reductase Inhibitor Type I and II). DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) is a by-product of testosterone, the male hormone. The scalp produces an enzyme known as 5-AR. When 5-AR reacts with testosterone, it is converted into DHT, which then binds to receptor sites on the scalp and follicle sending false signals to the functioning cells responsible for proper hair growth. This is the primary reason for damaged, shrunken follicles characteristic of MPB. Azelaic acid also has the ability to normalize improper growth of skin cells lining the hair follicle, leading to a reduction in the amount of hair shed on the scalp. Please note: The actual color of the solution is yellow. When Minoxidil & azelaic acid is dissolved, it gives off a slight-yellow color. Retinol is also yellow which contributes to this. This does not in anyway change the effectiveness of the solution.

For this reason, propylene glycol is preferred over glycerin in many pharmaceutical and cosmetic preparations, including the FDA approved formula Rogaine who has always used propylene glycol over glycerin. A Glycerin based product may really limit your results as a smaller percentage of actives will be absorbed into the skin. Glycerin is also much more stickier and greasier on the skin than propylene glycol. Propylene glycol does pose some irritation for some users, however we have significantly reduced the amount of propylene glycol compared to standard minoxidil products in order to combat irritation.

This formula has a concentration of 15% (150mg/ml) of minoxidil, 5% azelaic acid (50mg/ml), and is enhanced with retinol for an increased absorption rate and penetration of actives into the scalp. This solution is only recommended after all other minoxidil strengths have failed to regrow hair on the vertex of the scalp or frontal hair lines. Treatment may be effective at one application per day. Some customers find it easier to use the 15% strength at night along with a 5% strength in the morning, as the lower concentration minoxidil makes it easier to style the hair after the solution has dried. With our highly concentrated 15% minoxidil, you only need a small amount of solution to be effective, most times 1/4-1/2 ml is plenty to evenly distribute onto the treatment area.
